Reo Hatate quits for PL club, second Liverpool star signs - How Celtic could line up in 2024-25

Football Insider takes a look at how Celtic could line up in 2024/25 with potential big name exits and arrivals.

It is no secret that Celtic will need an overhaul next summer if they want to compete in the Champions League for seasons to come and their opening two games have made that abundantly clear.

The summer window could be a sore one for Hoops fans with potential big names heading for the exit door.

Reo Hatate is likely to attract significant interest as he continues to develop under Brendan Rodgers.

The 26-year-old was linked with a Premier League move in the recent window, particularly in the wake of Postecoglou’s move to take charge of Tottenham.

Back in March, Football Insider revealed that Brighton were plotting to sign the midfielder but a move did not materialise.

Crystal Palace also held reported interest in Hatate and there will likely be more English top flight teams keen on the midfielder in the coming months.

Kyogo Furuhashi is another asset to keep an eye on over the coming months if he continues his impressive goalscoring record.

He, like Hatate, recently put pen to paper on a contract extension at Parkhead that runs until 2027.

That, combined with the fact that he will be 29 the time the summer window rolls around, could deter potential interested parties from a deal.

It is clear the Hoops will need reinforcements up front as well as at the back, with the goalkeeper an area of major concern as Joe Hart enters the final months of his contract.

It has previously been reported that Brendan Rodgers is keen on bringing Liverpool back up goalie Caoimhin Kelleher to the club and that could be a deal to revisit in the summer when he will have two years remaining on his deal.

He would join a second Liverpool star, loan defender Nat Phillips, already at the club.

Here’s how the Hoops could line up next season if Hatate and Kyogo depart and Kelleher signs:

Caoimhin Kelleher, Alistair Johnston, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Maik Nawrocki, Greg Taylor, Matt O’Riley, Callum McGregor, Odin Thiago Holm, Daizen Maeda, Luis Palma, Hyeon-gyu Oh.

In other news, winger wants to quit Celtic for good after talks with chiefs.
