Sources: Fulham ready to pounce for ex-Arsenal and Chelsea star Olivier Giroud

Fulham are among the clubs ready to pounce if veteran striker Olivier Giroud cannot agree a new AC Milan deal, sources have told Football Insider.

West Ham, Crystal Palace and Brentford have also been linked with the 36-year-old World Cup winner.

Giroud is believed to be keen on returning to London after success in the Premier League with Arsenal and Chelsea.

However, sources with knowledge of the striker’s situation have revealed that Milan are “confident” of renewing his contract – which is set to expire at the end of this season.

Giroud remains a key man for the Rossoneri, and has scored 11 goals in 31 appearances as a regular starter this term.

He also played a key role for finalists France at the World Cup in Qatar and became Les Bleus’ greatest-ever goalscorer at the tournament – surpassing Thierry Henry.

Giroud started his career in England with Arsenal in 2012, winning three FA Cup trophies with the Gunners in almost six years at the club.

He then moved on to London rivals Chelsea and lifted the Champions League, Europa League and FA Cup in his three-and-a-half years at Stamford Bridge.

The former Montpellier hitman has scored 90 Premier League goals – including a best-ever return of 16 strikes in the 2015-16 season.

Fulham have struggled to maintain their status as overachievers without talisman Aleksandar Mitrovic, winning just two of the six league games in which he has been absent.

The Cottagers sit sixth in the Premier League and are firmly in the race for European qualification this term.
