Sources: Aston Villa and Brentford plot moves for Newcastle United star Martin Dubravka

Aston Villa and Brentford are plotting moves for Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

It is understood that both sides are laying the groundwork with potential targets as they plan for the exits of their respective shot-stoppers at the end of the season.

Both Emiliano Martinez, 30, and David Raya, 27, have been linked with big-money moves.

Sources told Football Insider on Monday (20 February) that Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan and Juventus are among the top clubs interested in signing World Cup winner Martinez.

Aston Villa are believed to be willing to listen to offers – with Tottenham also conducting background checks on him as they run the rule over potential Hugo Lloris replacements.

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed earlier this month (13 February) that Chelsea have made contact with Raya about a potential £40million move from Brentford.

The Spain international has been a standout performer for the Bees this term as they push for European qualification.

Dubravka, 34, has made just one Premier League appearance this term – replacing first-choice Newcastle star Nick Pope after his red card against Liverpool last week (18 February).

The Slovakia international spent the first half of this season on loan at Man United but turned out just twice for Erik ten Hag’s side in the League Cup.

He was replaced as Newcastle’s first-choice goalkeeper in the summer of 2022, with England star Pope arriving for a reported £10million.

Dubravka is under contract at St James’ Park until June 2025.

He has racked up 128 Premier League appearances since arriving on Tyneside in 2018, keeping 38 clean sheets.
