Kieran Maguire cites Moises Caicedo as Brighton set for 'major transfer boost'
Brighton are the ‘poster boys’ of player recruitment and will utilise new changes to GBE endorsement to continue their impressive transfer strategy.
That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about the introduction of the new ESC endorsement path.
The FA have implemented new transfer rules that will allow English clubs to sign more overseas players that currently don’t fit the criteria for a Governing Body Endorsement.
Football Insider revealed that this will provide a ‘huge transfer boost’ for Brighton given their success in transforming unknown overseas players into Premier League stars.
The Seagulls have thrived in the transfer market, making huge profits on players in recent seasons under the stewardship of CEO Paul Barber and chairman Tony Bloom.
Maguire believes Brighton will use the new FA rule change to develop their transfer strategy after having success with overseas signings such as Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister.
“Brighton are the poster boys of recruitment from international markets,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“You only have to look at the pathways they have provided for players like Yves Bissouma, Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister in recent years to demonstrate that.“
“I’m confident that they will make sure they comply with all of the relevant rules to ensure that they can utilise the Governing Body Endorsement scheme to continue their policy of attracting overseas talent to the Amex Stadium.
“First and foremost they want to improve the product on the pitch and secondly they want to provide options for players as they continue their careers.
“The club has stated on many occasions that they will not stand in the way of any player that wants to leave provided that the price is right.
“When it comes to negotiating player sale prices there are no better in the business than Tony Bloom and Paul Barber.“
