Sources: Liverpool make move for Alexis Mac Allister as price revealed- he's 'ready to go'

Liverpool have registered an interest in Brighton star Alexis Mac Allister ahead of the summer window, sources have told Football Insider.

Sources close to the 24-year-old have revealed that he is “ready to go” to a bigger club at the end of the 2022-23 campaign – more than four years after joining the Seagulls.

Mac Allister’s potential transfer could come just six months after he lifted the World Cup as a key player for Argentina in Qatar.

It is believed that Brighton are willing to part with the midfielder if their £70million asking price is met.

The south coast club paid a reported fee of just £7million for Mac Allister in 2019 and loaned him out to Argentinos Juniors and Boca Juniors over the following two seasons.

He returned to the Amex Stadium in 2020 and made his first Premier League appearances in the final throes of the 2019-20 campaign.

Over the next three seasons, the midfielder has grown into a key part of the Brighton side which has caught the eye of fans and pundits alike.

Mac Allister, who is under contract until June 2025, has managed seven goals in 22 appearances across all competitions as a regular starter for Roberto De Zerbi’s side this term.

The 24-year-old, who has 14 senior international caps, notched a goal and an assist at the World Cup as part of Argentina’s triumph.

Brighton are eighth in the Premier League and remain firmly in the hunt for European football this season.

Fellow midfielder Moises Caicedo has been a target for so-called ‘big-six’ clubs in the past two windows and pleaded to leave the club in a social media message in January.

Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (28 February) that Chelsea and Tottenham are monitoring Seagulls boss De Zerbi as they look for a new manager in the coming months.

Meanwhile, Liverpool could struggle to achieve European qualification this season after a disappointing 2022-23 campaign.

Jurgen Klopp’s side sit seventh – nine points adrift of fourth-place Tottenham.
