Pundit savages four 'embarrassing' Man United stars - 'You're stupid'
Man United were “embarrassing” in defence for letting three goals in against Galatasaray.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former West Ham United and Celtic striker Frank McAvennie claimed he would have given the backline an “absolute pelting” after fundamental errors led to the Turkish side taking a point in the 3-3 clash.
Despite leading 3-1, the Red Devils failed to see out the victory after Andre Onana spilt the ball into his own net from Hakim Ziyech’s freekick before Kerem Akturkoglu’s thunderous equaliser.
The Red Devil’s Champions League hopes are on thin ice after the draw left them at the foot of Group A meaning they will need to beat Bayern Munich in their final game and hope for a draw between Copenhagen and Galatasaray.
McAvennie feels Erik ten Hag’s side have little chance of beating Harry Kane’s Bayern at Old Trafford later this month if they remain so weak at the back.
“I would give my defenders an absolute pelting on the way back for letting in those three goals,” he told Football Insider.
“I couldn’t care less if they are superstars or not, I’d be giving it to them because when you go away from home you need to keep it tight.
“To let three goals in, and the way they let them it, it just was embarrassing.
“It was so easy so if you think Harry Kane isn’t going to score goals against them and beat them, then you’re stupid!”
