Sources: Tottenham scouts watch Mikautadze after Burnley offer rejected

Tottenham scouts watched Metz forward Georges Mikautadze in action over the weekend, sources have told Football Insider.

The striker, 22, is in huge demand ahead of the close of the transfer window with Ajax in talks with Metz over a deal for the Georgia international.

Spurs, West Ham and Leicester sent scouts to watch Mikautadze score in Metz’s league clash against Clermont Foot on Sunday (27 August) after he also bagged against Marseille a week earlier.

Burnley had an offer for the forward rejected earlier this summer.

Mikautadze scored 24 goals last season to help Metz win promotion to Ligue 1.

23 of those goals came in the league – with the Lyon-born hitman also providing eight assists.

The Metz academy product has three years left to run on his contract in northeast France after signing an extension in November 2022.

He has managed 26 goals and 10 assists for the club – having only become a regular in the side during the 2022-23 campaign.

Mikautadze spent the previous two seasons out on loan at Belgian club RFC Seraing – where he racked up an impressive 36 goals from 57 appearances in the country’s top two tiers.

Tottenham’s search for a Harry Kane replacement has entered the final week of the transfer window.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (28 August) that Spurs have a strong interest in banned striker Ivan Toney and will assess a potential January move for him.

Richarlison is currently leading the line for Ange Postecoglou’s side but is yet to score this term.

Meanwhile, West Ham are in the hunt for striking reinforcements with Gianluca Scamacca leaving the club this summer.

Leicester could lose both Patson Daka and Kelechi Iheanacho in the window’s final week following relegation to the Championship.
