Everton backed to seal £18million Maxwel Cornet deal after journalist's update - Robinson

Paul Robinson has backed Everton to launch at £18million permanent move for Burnley forward Maxwel Cornet.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one heaped praise on the 25-year-old who is “capable of scoring goals at Premier League level.”

According to the Daily Mail‘s Simon Jones (18 July), the Toffees are preparing a revised offer for Cornet after seeing an initial loan offer rejected.

The Clarets winger is said to be viewed as a potential replacement for Richarlison, who joined Tottenham earlier this summer.

Robinson urged Everton to sanction a move for the Ivory Coast international.

“Cornet is worth paying £18million for,” he told Football Insider.

“He is a very good player, a top player.

“We did not see the best of him at Burnley because he was playing in a struggling side. If Everton can do a deal to get him out of there he will score goals. He is capable of doing that at Premier League level.

“He is a very, very good player and he has shown that he can play wide as well as through the middle. Those kind of players are invaluable.

“He knows where the goal is and is powerful as well. What more do you want.

“If Everton can get him for about £18million it would be a very good deal because he it a great player.”
