Rangers and Celtic fans have shared their feelings on Malky Mackay being sacked by Ross County on Wednesday (15 November).

The Staggies axed MacKay after two-and-a-half-years leaving them second-bottom in the league table with just two wins all season.

The former Wigan Athletic and Watford boss guided Ross County to a sixth-place finish in his first season, their joint-highest position since 2016, but narrowly avoided relegation last season by beating Partick Thistle in a nine-goal playoff thriller.

Their club statement claimed that “change is now required” following recent defeats to Hearts and Celtic.

Hoops and Gers supporters have taken to social media to react the the controversial figure’s dismissal, and some are much happier than others.

This Celtic fan mocked Mackay’s downfall after he was tipped to the Ibrox job.

This Rangers fan joked that former Michael Beale could have a redemption arch at Dingwall after his Ibrox dismissal earlier this season.

This Gers fan questioned who the Staggies could bring in to replace Mackay but and claimed his sacking was “harsh to say the least”.

One Hoops supporter congratulated County for deservedly sacking the 51-year-old and claimed Scottish football needs a fresh set of managers.

One Celtic supporter tipped Mackay to return to management soon with a move to a big Scottish club by the summer.

This fan slammed the “stupid” call from the Staggies and felt that relegation was now inevitable.

One fan had a guess at Brendan Rodgers’ reaction following the news, with the pair being friends since working together at Watford back in 2008.

This Hoops fan praised the club for their “common sense” decision to show Makay the door.
