'Blows my mind', 'Ref's on the payroll' - Celtic fans 'lost for words' after latest Sky footage analysed
Celtic fans were “lost for words” after Oh Hyeon-Gyu’s disallowed goal against Ross County on Saturday (4 November).
The Hoops were level with the Staggies at 0-0 in the 32nd minute when Daizen Maeda received a lofted ball to break the defence.
His pass met Oh in the six-yard box for a tap-in for the South Korean international, but a lengthy VAR review deemed Maeda to have been offside in the build-up.
The controversy stemmed from the camera angle used by the officials as it did not provide a clear view of Maeda’s position and the frame used for analysis seemed to be from after the pass was made.
Brendan Rodgers’ side went on to win 3-0 at Dingwall with goals from David Turnbull, Luis Palma and James Forrest, but Celtic fans did not forget the first-half incident.
Some fans believe the decision was an “act of cheating” by the officials after Celtic had two goals chalked off.
Other fans accused VAR official Andrew Dallas of being “incapable of impartiality” due to his allegiances with Rangers.
This supporter was shocked by the poor use of VAR and questioned why more camera angles were not available for the officials.
One fan claimed the incident showed why Scottish referees are “no longer trusted”.
Another supporter claimed the disallowed goal shows a “conspiracy” against the Hoops.
