Pundit verdict on Wilfred Zaha joining Liverpool after new emerges - 'he wants to sign'

Frank McAvennie has claimed Wilfred Zaha would not be a good fit at Liverpool.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker said Zaha does not work as hard as players like Luis Diaz.

According to Italian outlet Calciomercato (18 October), the 29-year-old is keen on a move to Anfield.

The Ivory Coast international is said to be “very fond” of the Merseyside club.

The former Man United man has entered the final year of his deal at Selhurst Park and is free to open talks with foreign clubs over a free transfer from January.

As quoted by talkSPORT (19 October), Eagles boss Patrick Vieira said he is not worried about Zaha’s future despite the limited time left on his contract.

When asked if Liverpool would consider a move for the winger, McAvennie told Football Insider: “I don’t know.

He was only a boy when he went to Man United. He needs to chase back because you have got to work your socks off at Liverpool.

You have got Diaz out there who is willing to work his socks off. So I do not know if he would be the right fit. Great player, yes, but Klopp will be looking for something a bit better.

Zaha has made 11 appearances for Crystal Palace so far this season.

In those outings he has scored five goals and provided one assist.

The Ivorian was included in the starting lineup for Palace’s 1-0 win over Southampton on Sunday but wasn’t involved in the only goal of the game.
