Sources: Tottenham plot surprise January move for ex-Chelsea ace Samuel Iling-Junior

Juventus sensation Samuel Iling-Junior is a top target for Tottenham ahead of the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou wants to add another wide attacker to his squad after injuries to Manor Solomon and Ivan Perisic.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that club chiefs see Iling-Junior, 20, as a forward with “huge potential”.

The England Under-21 international came through the ranks at Chelsea before moving to Juventus in 2020 – and Spurs are now hoping to persuade him to return to his homeland.

A move for the winger comes as a shock as Tottenham were widely expected to prioritise additions at centre-back and in attacking midfield following injuries to Micky van de Ven and James Maddison.

Iling-Junior has made four appearances in Serie A this term, notching one assist – and has turned out 22 times in total for Juventus.

The left-footer is under contract in Turin until June 2025 after penning his last contract extension in December 2022.

Tottenham are currently without Perisic, Solomon and big-money 2022 signing Richarlison – with all three players undergoing surgery on different injuries.

That will mean an increased reliance on Brennan Johnson and Dejan Kulusevski between now and the January transfer window.

Spurs’ attacking output has also been affected by a serious injury to attacking midfield star Maddison – who is expected to be out until the new year.

Postecoglou’s side, who are not involved in European competition this season, sit fourth in the Premier League following back-to-back losses against Chelsea and Wolves.

Spurs are next in action against Aston Villa following the international break (26 November).

In other news, door open for Tottenham to complete two big January deals.
