'Best in the world right now', 'Snooze Bellingham, it's so over' - Fans react to Trent Alexander-Arnold display in England win over Malta

Fans were blown away by Trent Alexander-Arnold’s midfield “masterclass” for England against Malta on Friday evening (17 November).

The Three Lions had already qualified for Euro 2024 head of this qualifier but put out an underwhelming display at Wembley which left many fans turning to their phones rather than watching.

An early own goal and a close-range Harry Kane strike was enough to earn the 2-0 win, but most fans’ eyes were caught by the Liverpool right-back’s excellence on the pitch – this time in the midfield.

The 25-year-old has been tipped to permanently move from the defence and as revealed by Football Insider (7 November), Liverpool are exploring a potential deal for a versatile defender in January to facilitate his evolving role for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Fans got another glimpse of what Alexander-Arnold can offer here and took to social media to lavish praise on his “majestic” outing.

This fan claimed, despite Alexander-Arnold primarly being a right-back, that he’s a better midfielder than most in the England.

One fan urged Klopp to get a new right-back and put Alexander-Arnold into midfield for the Reds after being “undoubtedly” England’s best player against Malta.

This fan dubbed him the “best playmaker in Europe” after his dominant display.

This Liverpool fan was overwhelmed by the fact that he plays for his club.

One supporter can’t imagine there will be a player like Trent for as long as he’s alive.

This supporter urged Gareth Southgate to start Alexander-Arnold for the Euros if they want to go all the way this time.

This fan warned Real Madrid superstar Jude Bellingham, who withdrew from the squad with injury, that his time as an England starter is over.

One fan doesn’t think there’s anyone else better in world football at the moment that Trent.

In other news, Liverpool told £30m Andre offer will be accepted.
