Alfredo Morelos cited as Man United told to pull plug on striker deal - expert

Alan Hutton has insisted Aleksandar Mitrovic is not a Man United type of player.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender, who has played against Mitrovic, likened the 28-year-old’s attitude to Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos.

According to the Daily Star (25 March), the Fulham striker had been a target for United before his sending off for a shove on referee Chris Kavanaugh against the Red Devils.

Erik ten Hag’s side had earmarked the Serbia international as a target in their search for a new striker this summer, but his sending off against the side may have damaged any chance of a move.

When asked if a poor disciplinary record would put off an interested team, Hutton told Football Insider:It just depends how desperate they are for the player.

It kind of comes down to that. There is players out there that play on the line, the likes of Morelos and these guys and if you were to take that out their game they are not the same player.

I played against Mitrovic, he is an aggressive player, he is a winner, he wants to get in about you and battle you. The odd occasion it will spill over as we saw.

What he did was terrible, you can’t do that and he will be punished for it. Does it put teams off? Maybe some. But it all comes down to how much they want the player.

I did not think that he would be a Man United type of player. Ten Hag will have other options.

Last month (20 March), Football Insider revealed that United are going “all out” to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham this summer.

An A-list centre-forward is top of Ten Hag’s list this summer and his sights are firmly set on the England captain.
