Patrick Bamford starts, Sam Byram axed in 4-2-3-1: Leeds predicted XI v Rotherham United

Leeds will look for their fourth consecutive Championship victory when they travel to the AESSEAL New York Stadium to face Rotherham United on Friday (24 November).

Ahead of the Whites’ first piece of action after the international break, Football Insider has predicted Daniel Farke’s starting line-up to play the relegation-fighting Millers.

Defence

Illan Meslier will almost certainly keep his place in goal for Leeds behind an unchanged centre-back partnership of Joe Rodon and Liam Cooper in Pascal Struijk’s absence.

Sam Byram remains a doubt for the game, so long-term absentee Junior Firpo could see himself back in the Whites’ starting XI at left-back for the first time since last season, while Archie Gray may keep his spot at right-back on the back of his debut for England’s Elite Squad.

Midfield

Farke could be keen to form an established midfield partnership and may opt to stick with Glen Kamara and Ethan Ampadu just ahead of the defence.

The pair both started and remained undefeated for Finland and Wales respectively during the international break.

Attack

Farke would be unlikely to disturb the prolific partnership of Dan James and Crysencio Summerville against Rotherham while Joel Piroe’s game-winning strike against Plymouth Argyle would most likely seal his place yet again.

Patrick Bamford is a strong possibility to get his first start of the season after Farke admitted Georginio Rutter is a “big doubt” due to an abdominal strain.
