This is why O'Brien is demanding 'massive' Leeds move over Crystal Palace - pundit

Lewis O’Brien is likely settled in Yorkshire and that makes a switch from Huddersfield Town to Leeds United all the more attractive.

So says ex-Whites goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Leeds’ pursuit of the 22-year-old midfielder.

O’Brien is telling his club he wants to quit and join Leeds, as revealed by this site earlier today (13 August).

The Terriers rejected a Leeds bid of no more than £3million for O’Brien as they value him at closer to £10m, as revealed by this site on 6 August.

And Football Insider first broke news yesterday that Cyrstal Palace have also registered their interest in the youngster.

Kenny claims that O’Brien’s connection to Yorkshire could be instrumental in explaining why he favours a move to Elland Road over Selhurst Park.

“It can definitely help if you’re based in the area in Yorkshire,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.

“He’s been there for a while now and I’m sure he’ll have settled in the area. So he could be knocking on that door and pushing for the move.

“Players don’t want to be moving here there and everywhere and they might want to get somewhere local.

“Who could turn down that chance to move from Huddersfield to Leeds? It could be a massive moment in his career.

He’d be playing in the Premier League and I’m sure that can play a big part in signing.”

O’Brien’s Huddersfield contract expires next summer.

However, the Terriers have the option of triggering a one-year extension clause.
