Sources: Fulham set sights on signing Leicester City star Castagne

Fulham are plotting a move for Leicester City defender Timothy Castagne before the 1 September deadline, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed Cottagers boss Marco Silva is a “big fan” of the 27-year-old, who was relegated from the Premier League with the Foxes last term.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (21 August) that Fulham are planning to sign a full-back on each side of their defence after selling Aleksandar Mitrovic for big money.

Castagne would become the first choice option on the right, while Silva wants backup and competition for United States international Antonee Robinson on the left-hand side.

Kenny Tete has started the season as the first-choice right-back for Fulham.

14-cap Netherlands international Tete impressed for the Londoners last season, notching one goal and five assists in 36 appearances across all competitions.

However, he has just one year remaining on his contract at Craven Cottage.

Meanwhile, Castagne is yet to play a single minute for Leicester this season following their demotion to the Championship.

The versatile defender, who joined the Foxes in 2020, notched two goals and four assists in 42 games across all competitions last term.

His contract at the King Power Stadium is set to run until June 2025.

Castagne is not the only Leicester star attracting interest following Leicester’s relegation.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (21 August) that striker Patson Daka is on the radar of Ligue 1 side Monaco.

Meanwhile, sources have also told Football Insider (22 August) that Kelechi Iheanacho is attracting interest from Premier League and Saudi Pro League sides.
