Leicester City told to sack Brendan Rodgers 'now' after source's reveal - pundit

Frank McAvennie has told Leicester City to sack Brendan Rodgers soon rather than later.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Celtic and West Ham striker said he “feels for” Rodgers and claimed the promises he was made when he joined Leicester haven’t been fulfilled.

Earlier this month (5 October), sources told this site that the Foxes are considering Rafa Benitez as a potential replacement for the 39-year-old.

Benitez is of interest to Leicester bosses because of his extensive Premier League experience and impressive track record.

The East Midlands club are currently second bottom of the Premier League table after a goalless draw with Crystal Palace on Saturday (15 October).

Rodgers‘ side have just five points from ten games so far this season.

McAvennie insisted the Foxes will struggle to do better than the Northern Irishman.

There is not a chance they will get a better manager than Rodgers,” he told Football Insider.

There is something not right there. He went to the club with these promises and they have not been fulfilled. They are not giving him the money to buy players. That was not the deal.

I think he is a hell of a coach. It is a strange one. I think he knows it is inevitable. He has been in the game a long time, he will get another job. I think he is an elite manager but it is just not happening.

They are not replacing older players with quality players. I feel for Brendan Rodgers because it is a hard task when you have just got the same tired players. It definitely needs freshened up and they are not giving him the money to do that.

If they are going to get rid of him, they need to do it now.
