Liverpool turn attention to signing 'perfect' forward as Fabio Carvalho deal is done - expert

Alex McLeish has claimed Liverpool will be looking to sign another “perfect” young forward despite already wrapping up a move for Fabio Carvalho.

The former Scotland boss, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the Reds will look into their “dossier” again amid potential exits for Takumi Minamino and Divock Origi.

This site revealed on Wednesday (27 April) that Liverpool are planning to announce the signing of Fulham star Carvalho, 19, within weeks – after agreeing a compensation fee and personal terms.

Origi is reportedly close to finalising a free transfer to Italian giants AC Milan, while Minamino has been linked with an Anfield exit this summer.

A report from Turkish outlet Fanatik (25 April) claimed Getafe forward Enes Unal is being courted as a potential replacement for the duo.

McLeish insisted another summer arrival can’t be ruled out.

“You couldn’t rule out Liverpool having another young forward coming in,” he told Football Insider‘s Russell Edge.

“They’ve not got any youngsters of their own really coming through, we’re not aware of that. They’ll be very secretive in their plans ahead of the summer now – as they should be.

“They’ll be looking in their dossier of potential players and trying to identify the perfect person to come in.”

Liverpool sit second in the Premier League and are primed to claim a place in the Champions League final.

Origi and Minamino have netted a total of 15 goals this term despite starting just 13 games combined.
