Sources: Luton Town plot raid for Bournemouth star Pearson

Luton Town are plotting a move to sign Bournemouth midfielder Ben Pearson, sources have told Football Insider.

The Man United product figures highly on the wanted list of the Premier League new boys.

Pearson, 28, spent the second half of last season on loan at Stoke City after finding his first-team opportunities limited at Bournemouth.

The defensive midfielder made just three starts in the Premier League last season and he could see himself down the pecking order again next season.

Pearson is entering the final year of his contract at Bournemouth after joining from Preston in January 2021.

Since his arrival at the Vitality Stadium, the midfielder has made 55 appearances for the club with just four assists to his name.

As quoted by the Daily Echo following his loan move to Stoke (10 February), the former Preston man commented on how difficult it has been operating on the fringes at Bournemouth.

The combative midfielder found it hard to adjust to the massive drop off in playing time he experienced following the Cherries’ promotion to the top flight after years of starting the majority of games in the lower leagues.

Pearson began his career in Man United’s youth setup but was never given a first team opportunity and left the club in 2016.

During his spell in Manchester, Pearson made 26 appearances for the under-21s side and offered up five assists in those outings.

In other news, Luton Town have made a move to sign Birmingham City star winger.
