Sources: Luton Town star Berry agrees deal after breakthrough

Luton Town midfielder Luke Berry has agreed a new contract with the club, sources have told Football Insider.

Berry, 30, was due to be out of contract at Kenilworth Road at the end of the month, but the Premier League new boys have moved to tie him down to a new deal.

Terms have been finalised and an announcement is expected soon.

The attacking midfielder has been with Luton since the summer of 2017 and has helped them win promotion from League Two to the Premier League.

Berry made 27 appearances in all competitions for the Hatters last season, chipping in with three goals.

The midfielder made 21 Championship appearances for Luton this season but was in the starting lineup for just four of those outings.

Luton enjoyed an impressive league campaign and secured Premier League football for the 2023-24 season with their play-off final victory over Coventry City, sending them into the top flight for the first time.

Speaking to Luton Today following the historic win (31 May), Berry said he felt “incredible” being able to help his side achieve promotion and insisted there is “nothing like” going up from the play-offs.

Although he started the crucial clash on the bench, he was subbed on and took the fifth penalty as they secured win.

Since Berry’s arrival from Cambridge United in 2017, the centre-mid has made 164 appearances for Luton Town across all competitions and has netted 24 goals and offered up 14 assists.

In other news, Luton Town have opened talks to sign Barnsley star.
