Newcastle told to agree Anderson deal to fund '£50m' new signing - Agbonlahor

Tino Livramento is not worth the financial strain it will cause Newcastle.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has claimed that the Southampton defender is not worth the financial difficulty it could cause the Magpies if a deal was to go through.

Newcastle have reportedly seen a £30million bid for Livramento, 20, rejected – with the Saints wanting to hold out for a fee of £50million for the starlet.

Football Insider understands that hope remains within St James’ Park that a deal can be struck for the England Under-21 international.

The Magpies are pushing to seal a deal for Livramento, who only returned from a horror anterior cruciate ligament injury at the end of the 2022-23 campaign.

With a potential transfer on the cards, Agbonlahor believes it is a deal not worth pursuing.

“The knee injury shouldn’t impact Livramento if he joined Newcastle,” he told Football Insider.

“Livramento didn’t play that much last season, as he was out with injury but they still want £45million for him despite being in the Championship, which doesn’t make sense.

“Newcastle shouldn’t risk getting stung by the deal, they already had to sell Allan Saint-Maximin to sign Harvey to even the books, so how will they even out the books by spending £45million on Livramento?

“I don’t see a transfer going over the line unless Newcastle give them a player, possible Elliot Anderson on loan could be an option.”
