Sources: Bristol City in advanced talks for Luton star Harry Cornick

Bristol City are in advanced talks to sign Luton striker Harry Cornick before the transfer deadline, sources have told Football Insider.

Bristol City are looking for striking reinforcements after selling Antoine Semenyo to Bournemouth earlier this month.

Cornick, 27, is in the final six months of his contract at Luton and they are ready to let him move on rather than risk allowing him to run down his contract.

Bristol City are now hoping to quickly finalise a deal with Luton to allow them to sign Cornick before the window closes at 11pm.

Cornick has spent the last six years of his career with Luton Town after joining from Bournemouth back in 2017.

He’s made 23 appearances for Luton this season but has mostly been limited to a role as a substitute at Kenilworth Road.

Cornick has completed just one full 90-minute match in the Championship this season, with his 19 appearances only amassing to 738 minutes on the pitch.

It’s a stark contrast to the 2021/22 season, when Cornick was a regular starter for Luton – making 38 appearances in the Championship and scoring 12 times in the process.

Should he leave Luton before Tuesday’s deadline, he’ll depart having made over 200 league appearances for the side, with 34 league goals to his name.

He played a key role in the club’s promotion from League Two in the 2017/18 season, and then followed it up by helping Luton to the League One title just a year later.
