Man City could complete 'brilliant' Josko Gvardiol signing after offer update - pundit
Paul Robinson has claimed RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol would be “a brilliant” signing for Man City.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one suggested that the 20-year-old’s stock has significantly risen as a result of the World Cup.
Gvardiol was one of the standout performers for Croatia at the World Cup.
According to Foot Mercato (12 December), Man City, Man United and Chelsea are chasing the centre-half’s signature.
All three clubs are said to be preparing offers north of £80million for the player.
Gvardiol is under contract at RB Leipzig until the end of June 2027.
When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on the potential arrival of the defender to the Premier League, Robinson said: “Gvardiola showed his maturity at the World Cup.
“He played brilliantly alongside a player who we know can be inconsistent in [Dejan] Lovren.
“The Croatian defence was superb other than the game against Argentina. They did not concededmany goals and Gvardiol was key to that. He took a lot of responsibility on his shoulders which is impressive for a player that is so young.
“There will be many Premier League clubs looking at him.
“I watched a bit of him in the Bundesliga last season. He looked a top player but he did not look that good.
“He has shown another level at the World Cup. It looks as if he has matured and developed a lot since last season.”
