Revealed: Arsenal land £31m jackpot with more to come

Arsenal have already hit the jackpot by landing £31million in Champions League prize money after securing their place in the round of 16, Football Insider can reveal.

The emphatic 6-0 win over Lens on Wednesday night guaranteed that the North London side will finish top of Group B regardless of results on matchday six.

Mikel Arteta’s side have won four of their five group-stage fixtures, with their only loss coming in the reverse match against Lens in October.

As per Uefa’s distribution model for the 2023/24 season, Arsenal’s progression to the round of 16 has earned the club £8.3million.

That prize fund adds to the £13.5million reward for qualifying for the group stage.

Each of Arsenal’s group stage wins was also worth £2.4million in prize money, meaning their four victories was worth an additional £9.6million.

With one final group stage fixture still to come against PSV in two weeks, the Gunners could yet still inflate that figure – a win would add £2.4million to their prize pot, while a draw is valued at £800,000.

Overall, it means Arsenal have already earned £31million from Uefa’s prize pool for their progression in Europe this season.

That figure doesn’t include additional market pool payments based on the UK’s broadcasting rights or their additional coefficient payments.

Arsenal rank 14th in Uefa’s 10-year coefficient table, with the lowest-ranked team in the tournament earning around £1million while the top-ranked team earns £32million.

Should Arsenal continue to progress through the Champions League’s knockout stages, their prize pool will increase with a quarter-final spot worth an extra £9.1million per club.

A semi-final spot would earn the Londoners £10.7million while finalists are each awarded £13.4million.
