Sources: Wrexham plot six-figure January move for Swindon star Saidou Khan

League Two promotion hopefuls Wrexham are planning a January move for Swindon midfielder Saidou Khan, sources have told Football Insider.

Wrexham have held a long-term interest in Khan, 27, and tried to sign him on the final day of the summer transfer window only for the deal to fall through.

The Gambia-born ace has impressed at Swindon since joining the club from Chesterfield in the summer of 2022.

The all-action midfielder has made 18 appearances in all competitions for Swindon so far this season, chipping in with three assists.

Wrexham are ready to raid their League Two rivals Swindon for Khan when the transfer window reopens feeling he would be a valuable addition to Phil Parkinson’s side.

The Welsh club hope to land the midfielder for a fee in the region of £350,000 as they look to maintain their push for promotion.

He recently brought up 50 league appearances for Swindon and has turned out 55 times in total for the Robins.

Khan’s performances have also earned him a Gambia call-up, with his first nod coming for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Sudan in June.

He also featured in the squad for the clash against Congo in September but was an unused substitute and is yet to make an international debut.

Gambia will play in the African Cup of Nations from 15 January having been drawn in a group with Senegal, Cameroon and Guinea.

Wrexham midfielder Jacob Mendy is also a recent feature for the Scorpions and could be in the squad alongside Khan for the tournament.

Parkinson’s side sit second in League Two following their 6-0 thrashing of Morecambe on Saturday (25 November).
