Sources: West Ham watch Rangers match as eleventh-hour Sangare signing on the cards

West Ham and Nottingham Forest are set to watch PSV Eindhoven’s Champions League playoff clash with Rangers on Wednesday (30 August) with a keen eye, sources have told Football Insider.

Both clubs have targetted a move for defensive midfielder Ibrahim Sangare in the final days of the summer window.

And it is believed PSV would become more susceptible to losing the Ivory Coast international if they are to miss out on Champions League group stage football.

The tie is finely poised at 2-2 ahead of the second leg in Eindhoven.

Football Insider revealed last week (25 August) that West Ham have made an enquiry for Sangare despite already adding Edson Alvarez and James Ward-Prowse to their midfield this summer.

Sources have also told Football Insider (23rd August) that Forest have offered to take the player, 25, on a season-long loan with an obligation to buy set at £21.3million.

The former Toulouse star has a £32million release clause in his contract at PSV, which runs until June 2027.

Sangare has played in all six of PSV’s games this season, notching two goals and one assist.

It is believed the Dutch side have identified a potential replacement for the holding midfield star in case they lose him in a late-window move.

Last season, the 31-cap Ivory Coast international made 45 appearances in all competitions – notching eight goals and three assists.

West Ham have already raided the Eredivisie for new faces this summer, with Ajax duo Alvarez and Mohammed Kudus signing for big money.

The Irons, who will play Europa League football this term, have picked up seven points from a possible nine in the Premier League.
