Karl Darlow backed to join Nottingham Forest after Newcastle United update - expert

Newcastle United should sell Karl Darlow to Nottingham Forest after an update on Brice Samba’s future.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the futures of both men.

On Monday (6 June) The Athletic reported Newcastle will consider selling Darlow this summer if an appropriate bid arrives.

It was also claimed the 31-year-old is attracting interest from Championship side Middlesbrough.

On Tuesday (7 June) The Athletic also reported Samba, 28, will not be signing a new deal with Nottingham Forest and intends to leave this summer.

Kenny insists Newcastle should try and offload Darlow to the newly-promoted side.

“Darlow, I think he will want to be playing more regularly,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“At some point, he will want to go out and get more game time. I would want to.

“That would be a good signing for Forest and it makes sense for everyone.

“If they need a goalkeeper, Newcastle have this guy who has loads of Premier League experience.

“It’s not ideal that Samba wants to leave but that’s football. He has to do what he thinks is best for him.

“I think there is a deal to be done there.”

Darlow is under contract at St James’ Park until the summer of 2025.

Samba is out of contract in the summer of 2023 and played a key role in Forest’s return to the top flight during the 2021-22 season.
