Tottenham could seal 'bargain' Djed Spence deal after latest from journalist - Robinson

Tottenham would be getting “a bargain” if seal a £15million deal for Djed Spence this summer, according to Paul Robinson.

The former White Hart Lane number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, said the 21-year-old’s price tag is “nothing in today’s market.”

A number of clubs are chasing Spence after an impressive loan spell at Nottingham Forest in the 2021-22 campaign.

According to the Northern Echo‘s Scott Wilson (5 June), Tottenham are leading the race for the Middlesbrough full-back with Forest already lining up alternatives.

Boro are said to want at least £15million for Spence, who has two years remaining on his contract at the Riverside.

When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of Spurs potentially signing Spence for £15million, Robinson said: “It is nothing in today’s market.

“When you look at his age and the quality and potential the player has got £15million would be a bargain. It is not a gamble for that type of money.

“I’m surprised he is going to go for that cheaply. If Spurs can get that one over the line it would be great. Spence is an exciting young talent.

“We will see if he goes straight into the starting XI or not. You expect that he would be given his opportunity at some point.”

Spence was one of the Championship’s standout performers last season.

He contributed two goals and five assists in 42 league appearances.
