Pundit tips big fee for Rangers starlet Ross McCausland' - 'They could now sell him for a lot of money', says pundit
Rangers can sell Ross McCausland “for a lot of money” after his “brilliant” form this season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Celtic and Scotland striker Frank McAvennie claimed the 20-year-old has been a “breath of fresh air” in the dressing room after featuring in all of Philippe Clement’s league games.
The winger earned his first call-up to the senior Northern Ireland squad this international break after featuring regularly for the youth sides.
He earned his first senior start in the Gers’ 2-0 win against Livingston on Sunday (12 November) after impressing in cameos from the bench.
McAvennie has tipped a big fee for the youngster and praised Clement for seeing what Michael Beale could not.
“I didn’t know the boy but I’d heard of him,” he told Football Insider.
“I knew there was a boy at Rangers that everyone’s raving about but I didn’t know why he wasn’t in the first team.
“I couldn’t remember his name, but it was McCausland! He’s got bundles of confidence.
“When Rangers got the penalty, he wanted to take it. He had the ball in his hands, I thought that was brilliant for a young chap coming in.
“This manager has obviously seen what Michael Beale couldn’t see in him and he’s brought him in.
“He’s been a breath of fresh air for the dressing room because he’s walked straight in there.
“He’s only a kid, but he’s got no fear. With the troubles and strife that Rangers have had, sometimes you just need that little bit of fresh air to come in and it changes the whole mood of the place.
“Fair play to him and fair play to Clement. There must be other youngsters in there, they can’t keep going out and spending money when you’ve not got it.
“They could eventually sell him for a lot of money.”
