Man United 'panicking' as Cucurella offer update revealed - Agbonlahor

Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed Man United are in “panic stations” as they eye up a late-window deal for Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella.

The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 25-year-old is “average” and “erratic”.

According to The Athletic (29 August), Man United have submitted a loan proposal for Chelsea star Cucurella.

Erik ten Hag’s side have turned their attention to the one-time Spain international with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia out injured.

Chelsea paid a reported fee in excess of £60million to sign Cucurella from Brighton last summer (2022).

He managed two assists in 33 appearances across all competitions in the 2022-23 campaign as the Blues slumped to a bottom-half finish.

The former Getafe man is yet to play in the new season.

Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “No – I don’t think there’s a player in there.

“I think he’s average, to be honest. He’s very erratic on the ball.

“He gets into good areas but makes the wrong pass. He’s quick, but I’m really not sure about him.

“There’s a reason why Chelsea have started Chilwell over him. He’s not good enough.

“He’s very erratic – and this just shows that Man United are in panic stations.

“There’s a few days left of the window and they need to make a few signings.”

Man United have looked far from convincing in their early games this term despite picking up six points from a possible nine.

Erik ten Hag’s side have completed deals for Rasmus Hojlund, Mason Mount, Jonny Evans and Andre Onana so far this summer.

In other news, Man United line up late summer signing – he’s a top target.
