Jokanovic has got it 'spot on' at Sheffield United as Brewster loan plan confirmed - Kenny

Sheffield United boss Slavisa Jokanovic has made the right call after he confirmed Rhian Brewster will not be sent out on loan.

That is the view of Blades legend Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Serbian manager’s recent remarks.

As quoted by Yorkshire Live on 18 October, Jokanovic claimed he is “not thinking” about a loan deal for the out-of-favour striker.

The 21-year-old has not featured in the Blades’ last five league matches and failed to make the matchday squad in the last two, including last night’s (19 October) 2-1 defeat away to Millwall.

Brewster signed from Liverpool in a £23.5million deal in October 2020 but has netted just once in 38 appearances since.

But Kenny insists that Jokanovic is correct to persist with the goal-shy centre-forward, who is under contract at Bramall Lane until 2025.

“He’s spot on there, Slavisa Jokanovic,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.

“He cost a lot of money but he’s had a difficult time there. He’s been in and out of the team and that makes it harder for a striker to get into the swing of things.

“I always say that a centre-forward needs five or six games but he hasn’t been given that time.

“He has played in different positions across that forward line as well. That has made things even more difficult for him.

But they need to stick with him and hope that quality shines through. They are desperate for a goalscorer and the defeat to Millwall proved that again.
