'He is a vile footballer', 'I wish nothing but the worst for him' - Tottenham fans fume at Matty Cash after 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa

Tottenham fans on social media were left unhappy with Matty Cash after he injured Rodrigo Bentacur during their 2-1 loss on Sunday afternoon.

Villa took all three points from their trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with Pau Torres and Ollie Watkins scoring for the visitors after Giovani Lo Celso scored the opener.

The result saw Aston Villa leapfrog Tottenham in the Premier League table with Unai Emery’s side now fourth, two points ahead of Spurs in fifth who have now lost three league fixtures in a row.

After a feisty first half between the two sides, Unai Emery made a change at the break with Cash making way for Leon Bailey.

Cash started the match in an advanced role on the right flank but he failed to impact the game and was cautioned by referee Rob Jones after 27 minutes when he fouled Bentacur with a reckless challenge.

Bentacur left the pitch injured just days after making his return from a serious knee injury that ruled him out for nine months.

Spurs fans were left fuming at the Polish international on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Was Cash lucky to avoid a red card? This fan believes Cash would have been sent off against any other ‘Big Six’ club in the Premier League.

Other Tottenham fans cast their memories back to when Cash’s tackle also injured Matt Doherty…

Some Spurs fans even wished for Cash to suffer an injury himself.

It wasn’t only the Tottenham fans angry at Cash either, Aston Villa fans urged Unai Emery to take him off the pitch after a ‘disaster’ performance.
