Revealed: Everton reach agreement in principle to sign Che Adams after Southampton talks - sources

Everton have been told that Southampton want £15million for striker Che Adams, sources have told Football Insider.

The Merseysiders have submitted a £12m bid for the 27-year-old, who is keen to leave the Saints following their demotion from the Premier League.

Everton are closing in on a deal for Adams and already have an agreement in principle with him over personal terms.

But the two clubs are yet to agree a fee for the front man.

Southampton have been holding out all summer for £15million for Adams even though he has entered the final year of his contract.

Adams has scored in each of the Saints’ first two Championship games after notching just five league goals last term.

Football Insider revealed on 30th June that the Merseysiders are keen to add two strikers to their squad this summer.

Adams would become Sean Dyche’s fifth summer signing.

The Toffees has so far brought in Ashley Young, Arnaut Danjuma, Jack Harrison and teenage striker Youssef Chermiti from Sporting Lisbon.

According to FBRef, Adams earns a wage of £30,000-a-week at St Mary’s Stadium after joining the club for a reported fee of £15million in 2019.

He managed 10 goals and three assists in 35 games across all competitions last season as Southampton suffered relegation to the Championship.

The 27-year-old has managed 25 goals and 14 assists in 124 Premier League outings since making his top-flight debut in 2019.

Adams has also made 23 appearances for Scotland at senior level, notching six goals.
