'Massively threatened and completely rattled', 'Corrupt' - Newcastle fans fume at big transfer news

Newcastle United fans are fuming after the news that Premier League clubs will vote to ban loan deals between mutually owned clubs.

Clubs are set to hold a sharers meeting on 21 November and will need at least 14 of the 20 Premier League sides to pass the temporary measure.

The rule would only impact incoming loans, meaning the Magpies’ interest in a January loan deal for Al-Hilal midfielder Ruben Neves, first revealed by Football Insider in July, would be illegal as both clubs are owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund.

Newcastle are in need of a central midfielder after Sandro Tonali’s 10-month ban for gambling violations and as revealed by Football Insider (7 November), Neves is on their three-man list of January options with Kalvin Phillips at the top.

Fans have not taken kindly to the decision and have accused clubs of corruption and being threatened by “little old Newcastle”.

This Magpie believes the big clubs fear Newcastle’s potential and are changing the rules to purposefully hinder their progression.

This fan similarly thinks other clubs are threatened by the Magpies, but insists “they never will” stop them.

One fan believed this rule was a targeted attempt to stop Newcastle getting Neves, who clocked 30 goals and 13 assists for Wolves before his Saudi move.

This fan was excited for the “black and white juggernaut” of Newcastle to still succeed despite others’ best efforts.

One fan suspected corruption and pointed to repeat incidents of rule changes that just so happened to impact Newcastle.

One fan can foresee the Magpies taking the Premier League to court.

This fan is happy to rely on Newcastle’s vast wealth and just outright buy the 26-year-old for £10million – a huge decrease from his £47million fee this summer.

This fan is keen for fans to let their anger be known after the “total disrespect”.

In other news, Newcastle United fans were stunned by Tino Livramento’s display in their 2-0 defeat to Borussia Dortmund.
