Tottenham idol: Antonio Conte 'would love' to re-sign Kyle Walker-Peters as £30m details emerge

Paul Robinson has claimed Antonio Conte “would love” to re-sign Kyle Walker-Peters at Tottenham as details of a buy-back clause emerge.

The former Spurs goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 25-year-old has “really improved” since leaving the London club in 2020.

According to The Athletic (10 July), Tottenham are thought to have placed a £30million buy-back clause in the deal which took Walker-Peters to Southampton permanently.

The report claims there has been “no progress” on a new Saints deal for the right-back – who is wanted by Man United and Arsenal.

Walker-Peters, who made his England debut in March, is currently under contract until June 2025.

He played 23 times at left-back during the 2021-22 season after the emergence of youngster Tino Livramento.

Robinson compared the rise of Walker-Peters to that of Kyle Walker – who left Tottenham in 2017.

He told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury: “He’s really improved.

“He left Spurs in a similar way and a similar time to Kyle Walker – and they’ve really kicked on now and gone to new heights.

“You’d have to say that Walker-Peters is a player that Conte would love to have back in his ranks now.”

Tottenham are negotiating a deal for Middlesbrough right-back Djed Spence, 21.

A recruitment source told Football Insider on 29 June that Tottenham are now only £1million apart from the Championship club’s valuation of the former Nottingham Forest loanee.
