West Ham could beat Newcastle United to Armando Broja signing after new twist - pundit

Paul Robinson has insisted Armando Broja would get more game time at West Ham than if he moved to Newcastle this summer.

The former England goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 20-year-old must leave Chelsea this summer for the good of his career.

According to The Athletic (8 July), Southampton, West Ham, and Newcastle are all interested in signing Broja this summer.

The report claims the striker is not interested in another loan exit – and will only leave the London club on a permanent basis.

In a new twist, Chelsea have confirmed (9 July) the Albania international has not joined up with the Chelsea squad on their USA tour – but will “look” to do so next week.

Broja, who scored nine goals in 38 games on loan at Southampton last term, is under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2026.

Robinson claimed the Slough-born talent could struggle for game time at cash-rich Newcastle with Callum Wilson also vying for the striker spot.

“I think anywhere away from Chelsea would be a good move,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.

“Newcastle, he could struggle for game time with the size of the squad.

“West Ham could be a real option. They’ve struggled to get signings in, that’s no secret – but he’s got to look at going somewhere where he’s going to get on the pitch.

“I think he would struggle at Newcastle with the size of that squad – Callum Wilson looked impressive at the end of last season.”

Chelsea could reportedly demand a fee of around £30million for Broja.

The starlet has notched four goals in 14 international appearances for Albania.

In other news, pundit claims West Ham could walk away from £7.5m deal after “ground-breaking” twist.
