Sources: Tottenham lay groundwork on unexpected Bellingham deal
Tottenham are working on a deal to sign Jobe Bellingham, sources have told Football Insider.
The London giants have a strong interest in the Birmingham City sensation, who is the younger brother of England star Jude Bellingham.
Tottenham are putting together a package to lure the 17-year-old south of the border ahead of the summer window.
The teen sensation is also on the radar of other Premier League clubs as well as teams in the Bundesliga.
Tottenham believe Bellingham has improved in recent months and they are putting in the groundwork to sign him before the race hots up.
Bellingham junior has established himself as a regular in the Birmingham first-team squad since debuting as a 16-year-old just over a year ago.
He has made 15 appearances this season, 14 of which have come in the Championship, although only two of them have been in the starting XI.
Capped by England at Under-18 XI, Bellingham signed a professional contract with Birmingham on his 17th birthday last September.
He is an attacking midfielder who can operate on both flanks as well as down the middle.
Elder brother Jude is wanted by Europe’s elite clubs ahead of what is expected to be a mega-money move from Borussia Dortmund in the summer.
Liverpool, Man City and Real Madrid lead the chase for the England midfielder, who is expected to cost well in excess of £100million after taking his game to a new level this season.
