Sources: Blackburn Rovers explore move for Swansea City star Cullen

Blackburn Rovers are exploring a late move for Swansea forward Liam Cullen, sources have told Football Insider.

Cullen is in the final year of his contract at Swansea and as yet has not been offered a new deal.

Blackburn are keen to bring in a new striker before Friday’s transfer deadline and they are monitoring Cullen’s situation at Swansea.

Cullen has started only one of Swansea’s opening four Championship games this season with his only two starts coming in the Carabao Cup.

Cullen could follow Joel Piroe out of the door of the Welsh club after he joined Leeds United in a move worth £12million last week.

Rovers manager Jon Dahl Tomasson is looking to add some more attacking depth to his side late into the window, with Football Insider revealing on Thursday that Blackburn had submitted a bid for Hertha Berlin star Derry Scherhant.

Blackburn have made a strong start to the 2023/24 season, winning two of their opening four Championship games and firing eight goals past Harrogate Town in their League Cup clash.

Cullen will add even more goals to this Rovers side with the 24-year-old scoring nine in 32 appearances across all competitions last season.

He has scored 13 times for Swansea in 76 total appearances since breaking into the first team in 2018.

Cullen has been with the Swans since the age of eight, with his only stint away from the Welsh club being his loan move to Lincoln City for the second half of the 2021/22 season.
