Sources: Tottenham explore market for attacking sensation as Raphinha news emerges

Tottenham are in the market for a new attacking player ahead of January amid links with Barcelona star Raphinha, sources have told Football Insider.

However, widespread reports of Spurs interest in the 26-year-old are likely coming from the Catalan giants as they attempt to drum up interest in the ex-Leeds star.

Premier League clubs, including Tottenham, will explore a move for Raphinha if he becomes available at the right price – but it is believed he does not feature on any shortlists in the English top flight at this time.

Newcastle have also been widely linked with the Brazil international in recent weeks.

Football Insider revealed on Saturday (18 November) that Juventus forward Samuel Iling-Junior is one of three options Tottenham are weighing up ahead of the January transfer window.

Ange Postecoglou is keen to bolster his options in attacking areas following injuries to Richarlison, Manor Solomon and Ivan Perisic.

Raphinha has been linked with a return to the Premier League under 18 months after leaving Leeds United for Barcelona in a reported £55million deal.

He has fallen out of favour at the La Liga champions under manager Xavi.

The 26-year-old has notched two goals and three assists in 11 appearances across all competitions this term.

Raphinha is under contract in Catalonia until June 2027 and earns a reported wage of around £210,000-a-week.

Tottenham sit fourth in the Premier League but have been rocked by recent injuries to the likes of James Maddison and Micky van de Ven.

Postecoglou’s side are next in action against fifth-place Aston Villa on Sunday (26 November).
