Tottenham insider tips Winks to 'force his way out' in January after development

Harry Winks could force his way out of Tottenham in January after failing to make the matchday squad against Arsenal.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Winks, 25, didn’t even make the bench as Tottenham were smashed 3-1 at the Emirates on Sunday afternoon.

The England international has only been handed four appearances in all competitions and one start in the Premier League under Nuno Espirito Santo.

This site revealed on 9th June that recruitment chief Fabio Paratici was telling Winks the club would listen to offers for him in the summer.

He remained at the club but Wenham claims Winks could force an exit in January if he remains starved of game time.

“January is always a hard month to shift players,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“One player I could see forcing his way out would be Harry Winks. He didn’t even make the matchday squad against Arsenal.

“If he still isn’t making the squad, he might say to himself that he needs to leave. He did start against Palace but he has since been bombed out of the side.

“A lot of Tottenham fans would have been happy to see him go in the summer. I always saw it as one of Winks or Sissoko needed to go.

“Obviously Sissoko went and Winks still isn’t getting in the side. For me, there is no future for him at Tottenham.

“For his own good, he needs to go off and reinvent himself. People forget he was our best player in the Champions League final a few years ago.

“A fresh start and a clean break is best for all parties.”

In other news, Wenham claims Nuno will start two big name players who have it all to prove v Mura.
