Tottenham insider tips two big names to start v Mura and Hojbjerg to be omitted

Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo could start Dele Alli and Tanguy Ndombele against NS Mura and leave out Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Tottenham face Slovenian outfit Mura in the Europa Conference League on Thursday as they look to secure their first win of the group stage.

Ndombele and Alli have been heavily criticised for their performances against Arsenal at the weekend.

Alli was dragged off at half-time and a club source has told this site Spurs still want to sell him after failing to move him on this summer.

Wenham insists both players have a lot to prove and also backed the likes of Giovanni Lo Celso and Ben Davis to be handed a start.

“They are the weakest team in our group. I expect to see the likes of Ben Davis come in for this one,” Wenham told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.

“Matt Doherty should have a chance to come in and put in a good performance. Lo Celso could make an appearance.

“Joe Rodon at centre half is another. There are plenty of players who need a game, Gollini in goal is another.

“Maybe some of the players who have been underperforming could get a game, the likes of Dele Alli and Tanguy Ndombele.

“They have a lot to prove after recent events and Hojbjerg needs a rest after playing so well this season.”

Ndombele was not in Nuno’s plans at the start of the season.

This came after he asked to leave the club in the summer.

In other news, Tottenham have been backed to swoop for a Premier League striker next summer.
