Sources: Liverpool reach agreement in principle over Trent Alexander-Arnold deal
Liverpool have reached an agreement in principle with Trent Alexander-Arnold over a new contract, sources have told Football Insider.
The 24-year-old has just under two years remaining on his current deal and the Merseysiders are keen to end any speculation over his future.
Top clubs across England and Europe would love to prise the full-back away from Anfield, but a well-placed source has told Football Insider that he is committed to Liverpool and has no plans to leave.
It is believed there is a willingness from all parties to do a deal and extend his contract.
Alexander-Arnold has recently been made vice-captain at Liverpool following the exits of James Milner and Jordan Henderson.
He wants to be a key part of the new-look Reds side as they target a return to the Champions League for the 2024-25 season.
The England international is playing in a more central role for club and country after a successful experiment from Jurgen Klopp towards the end of the 2022-23 campaign.
He notched four goals and 10 assists across 47 games in all competitions last term.
Alexander-Arnold started each of the first four games of the new season but has since picked up a hamstring injury.
The 24-year-old has missed games against Wolves and LASK Linz, but is believed to be nearing a return ahead of Liverpool’s clash with West Ham on Sunday (24 September).
He last extended his contract at Liverpool in July 2021 following the Reds’ famous Premier League title win.
According to FBRef, Alexander-Arnold currently earns £180,000-a-week at Anfield.
