Robinson: West Brom 'nailed on' to sign Pereira replacement amid agent reveal

Emiliano Marcondes could be signed by West Brom as Matheus Pereira’s replacement, according to Paul Robinson.

The former Spurs and England goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed Pereira, 25, is nailed on to leave The Hawthorns this summer along with Sam Johnstone.

In an interview with The Express (30 June), Pereira’s agent, Jolden Vergette, hinted at his client leaving the Midlands club in this transfer window.

He claimed the Brazilian playmaker “deserves a club that can follow his work at a high level.”

The same publication report recently appointed Albion boss Valerien Ismael is lining up a move for Danish attacker Emiliano Marcondes following his release from Brentford.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs if Marcondes was likely seen as a replacement for Pereira, Robinson said:

“I cannot see Pereira being there at the start of next season and Marcondes could be his replacement.

“West Brom will get asset stripped. There is a lack of transfer activity at the moment due to the Euros and Copa America but once they finish things will pick up quickly.

“I think Pereira and Johnstone are nailed on to leave. There needs to be a rebuild to get back out of that league.”

Pereira has been West Brom’s standout performer over the last two seasons and contributed 12 goals and 6 assists in 34 games in the 2020-21 campaign.

He has three years remaining on his contract at The Hawthorns.
