Sources: Sunderland agree to sign Dyce after his West Brom exit
Sunderland have agreed a deal to sign starlet Tyrese Dyce following his exit from West Brom, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.
The Black Cats have been working on landing the 20-year-old since they learned of his release from The Hawthorns.
A Sunderland source has told Football Insider that the club have now agreed contractual terms with Dyce and he is set to join on a free transfer.
The youngster impressed on a trial at the Stadium of Light after being informed of his Albion exit.
He made two appearances for Elliott Dickman’s Under-23s while on trial.
Sunderland will not need to pay a compensation fee to West Brom as they did not offer Dyce an extended contract to replace his deal that expires this month.
The Black Cats are in the market for reinforcements on the left-hand side this summer.
Dyce is a left-midfielder by trade but can also play as a left-back and his versatility will no doubt appeal to Sunderland boss Lee Johnson.
The League One giants have limited options at left full-back following Callum McFadzean’s release and Jake Vokins return to Southampton.
Denver Hume’s contract at the Stadium of Light is set to expire this week but the club are in talks with the player’s representatives over a new deal.
Dyce never made a senior appearance for West Brom.
He made 22 appearances for Albion’s Under-23s in total, with two goals and three assists to his name in that time.
