GSB tipped to land major investment after 'eye-opening' West Ham news - pundit

Noel Whelan has insisted the West Ham ownership will reap financial benefits from building a “state-of-the-art” training facility.

The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed Hammers chiefs have had their “eyes opened” to potential success by the exploits of David Moyes.

As per the Romford Recorder (October 14th), West Ham are set to break ground next month on a brand-new training facility after being granted planning permission by Havering Council.

The report also claims construction, which is taking place on current site Rush Green, is set to be completed in September of next year.

Whelan praised chiefs GSB (David Sullivan, David Gold, and Karren Brady) for putting the “fantastic” plans into motion.

He also hailed David Moyes for his part in taking West Ham “to another level”.

“Every Premier League club should be installing a state-of-the-art training facility,” Whelan told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.

“If you’re going to attract the top players, everything has to be up to that standard – training pitches, gym, medical centre, education – everything.

“The fact that the owners have realised this now and have put the plans into place – that’s fantastic.

“David Moyes has come in and taken them to another level, and this is really eye-opening to the owners as to what they can achieve at West Ham.

“When you’re successful and flying high in Europe, they will want to strengthen – but in order to get the top calibre players, they will have to put in these top-notch facilities.

“They will get it back, and more when they sell the club on.”

GSB reportedly resisted a “derisory” approach regarding a £400million takeover of West Ham in July.

Gold and Sullivan took control of the London club in 2010.
