West Ham set for major boost pre-Everton after 'forgotten' Coufal reveal - pundit

Noel Whelan has claimed West Ham are set for a significant boost if Vladimir Coufal is passed fit to face Everton on Sunday.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Leeds striker claimed the 29-year-old’s importance has gone under the radar in east London.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, David Moyes confirmed the Irons have a couple of injury and fitness concerns after the international break.

Coufal sat out the Czech Republic’s World Cup qualifying games with a minor groin strain.

However, well-connected West Ham news outlet Claret and Hugh claim club medics are hopeful the rest will help him overcome the effects of his niggling problem.

He has played every minute of the Irons’ seven Premier League games so far.

Despite that, Whelan suggested Coufal’s influence could be forgotten due to the “array of quality players at West Ham”.

Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “They do miss him. That competitiveness in the defensive area, that aggressive nature he has, while also being very good on the ball. We know dangerous he is.

“There is such a good array of quality players at West Ham now. Sometimes you do forget about these certain players that play an integral part to the success that they’ve had.

“He’s definitely been one, no doubt about that. They’ll be pleased (to potentially have him back).

This is a really difficult game, this is a game where you want to try and pick up maximum points.

“It’s going to be really good game actually. Really exciting, I think it’ll be nice and open as well. West Ham do like to play an open style now, very attacking, as do Everton as well.”

In other news, West Ham tipped to sign “exciting” English starlet to replace Fabianski.
