Pundit hails 'special' Bowen after behind-the-scenes West Ham reveal

Gabby Agbonlahor has heaped praise on Jarrod Bowen for doing the hard yards at West Ham.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker backed Bowen to retain his place in a West Ham side that is “firing”.

The Athletic‘s Roshane Thomas reported (October 2) did not go on holiday over the summer and instead opted to do extra training in his native Hereford.

The 24-year-old’s efforts have been rewarded as he has featured in every game for the Hammers this season.

He has only scored once and provided two assists in 10 games but his efforts have not been unnoticed by West Ham fans.

His form has also attracted the attention of Premier League big-hitters Tottenham and Liverpool.

Bowen is under contract in east London until the summer of 2025.

“He’s always been a good player,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“When you’ve not been in the Premier League for long as a player you’re not going to want to take too many days off.

“You’re going to want to keep working hard to keep your place in a side that’s firing.

“He’s got the right attitude, he’s special and that’s why he’ll continue to start for West Ham and continue to do well.”

Bowen moved to the London Stadium from Hull City in January 2020 for a £20million fee and has not looked back since.

The Englishman has scored 10 goals and contributed 12 assists in 63 games across all competitions for the Irons.
