Sources: Liverpool £30m Lloyd Kelly offer would be accepted

Liverpool and Tottenham will have to pay around £25-30million for Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly in the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed such a fee would be too good to turn down for the Cherries, with Kelly, 25, out of contract at the end of the 2023-24 campaign.

Football Insider revealed on Friday (10 November) that Tottenham are planning a new move for the Bournemouth defender after failing to land him during the summer window.

It is believed Spurs had a late £20million bid for Kelly rejected by Bournemouth in the most recent summer window as they did not have adequate time to find a replacement.

And Liverpool are now ready to go head-to-head with Ange Postecoglou’s side for the former England Under-21 man as they target a versatile defender.

Sources told Football Insider on Tuesday (7 November) that the Merseysiders regard this search as “key” to their success this season as Trent Alexander-Arnold‘s role rapidly evolves.

Bournemouth now face a big decision as interested sides weigh up whether to meet their £25-30million valuation.

The Cherries are believed to be exploring potential replacements for Kelly – who has worn the captain’s armband in the Premier League in recent weeks.

They ultimately want to keep the defender past the January window as they know he could be key to their chances of staying in the top flight.

Kelly joined Bournemouth from Bristol City in 2019 for a reported £13million but has not signed a contract extension since then.

His contract situation has put him in huge demand both in England and in Europe.

Bournemouth look set for a fight against relegation under manager Andoni Iraola this season, while both Liverpool and Spurs are solid top-four contenders after their successful starts to the 2023-24 campaign.
