Exclusive: Brown reveals what Norwood told him in car park after Sheffield United win

Sheffield United star Oliver Norwood told Michael Brown it was “great to get a win” and enjoy “knocking a few passes about” against Plymouth in the FA Cup.

Brown, a 174-time Blades midfielder, spoke exclusively to Football Insider after Chris Wilder’s side picked up only their third win of the season in all competitions.

Norwood started the game before being taken off with 18 minutes to play as Chris Basham and Billy Sharp goals sealed a 2-1 win.

Brown, who was at Bramall Lane as part of his broadcasting duties, revealed he caught up with Norwood in the car park at Bramall Lane after the game.

Asked about Norwood’s performance, Brown told Football Insider: I talked to him after the game, walked with him in the car park.

“He said it was great to get a win and really enjoyed it, knocking a few passes around and getting that win, like everybody. Billy Sharp’s comments afterwards were that they should have finished the game off a little bit better and they didn’t.

I think what Chris [Wilder] will be happy with was the possession they controlled, to be able to move the ball around and really enjoy a game of football. They possibly haven’t had so much control in games, obviously, that we’ve seen and I think for the players to get on the ball more, they’ll be happy that it’s a different style again.”

Norwood has been with Sheffield United since August 2018, joining initially on loan before making the move permanent in January in a £2million deal.

He has gone one to make 77 appearances for the Blades, scoring four goals.
